Matty Chartier is named NCAFA Midget Director

NCAFA is proud to re-introduce the position of NCAFA Midget Director, and extremely excited to welcome Matty Chartier into the role.

NCAFA Midget Director will be responsible for working along side the Inter-Provincial commissioner and helping coordinate Ottawa Midget & Bantam related issues, including quality control, recruitment, improving relationships with universities and CEGEP and disciplinary matters.

First off, NCAFA would like to thank all those that have helped maintain the Midget level throughout the OVFL / OPFL summer Football tenure. These new initiatives would not be possible without the dedicated work of Lyne Viau, Tony Violante, and Steve Dean.

Matty is a true #local example of how to improve your community. He started his Football journey at the age of 7 for the Bel Air Lions and played with the organization until age 19; playing Tyke through Midget.

After Midget, Matty applied to the University of Ottawa in hopes to play at the University level and attending the UOttawa Gee-Gees Football winter camp. With education being a priority, he decided to leave Ottawa U and attend Algonquin College He continued his playing career at the Junior Level, in the OFC, with the Ottawa Sooners Football (until age 22).
During his time with the Ottawa Sooners he was also coaching with the
Bel-Air Lions & Norsemen Football Club Group bantam team as the Offensive Coordinator. Splitting time as a player and coach, he was offered to step in as the Head Coach at Bantam.

People will remember Matty taking a 4-4 Lions team on to win the A Cup that year. He actually went on to be the Head Coach with Bel-Air from 2014-2016 and as a team they were able to win back to back champions in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Matty was also receivers coach on the 2017 OPFL JV Championship team with Jeff Koradi

"Stepping away from coaching, I am looking forward to the new challenges ahead as the NCAFA Midget Director and I am excited to be part of the growth for Ottawa Football".
