Congratulations to all players

2022 NCAFA Midget All-Stars

Offensive Awards:

The City Champion West Ottawa Knights were exciting to watch on the offensive side of the ball at the midget level this past season. The signal caller for the Knights, Deion Blackwood, takes home the Quarterbacks Award after leading West Ottawa to a championship victory in the NCAFA midget final against the Giants, as well as the Inter-provincial bowl series against the North Shore Mustangs. One of his favorite passing targets in receiver Lianos Stavros takes home the Receivers Award after an extremely successful season establishing a touchdown heavy connection with his Quarterback. What good is an offense without protection? The Knights were also equipped with a talented offensive line that was an intricate part
of their success in 2022 and was led by Simon Doncaster who takes home the Offensive Lineman Award. The Knights weren’t the only club with big-time players on the offensive side of the ball in 2022 however; Bel-Air Norsemen running back Shalom Osamhenghian put on a show all year with his ability to get by defenders and was a big part of the Norsemen's top 3 finish in 2022. He gets the nod for the Running Backs Award.

Defensive Awards:

The defensive talent in the Midget division is always fun to watch. This past season there were multiple standouts; The disruptive force for the South Gloucester Raiders in Mo Sheik Hassan lead the way with his phenomenal play up front and takes home the Defensive Line Award. Nepean Broncos Linebacker Peter Raia
flew all over the field and had a nose for the ball for the competitive Broncos last season and gets the nod as the league's top backer winning the Linebacker Award.
The Champion West Ottawa Knights weren’t just an offensive team as their defense matched their production and their secondary was led by ball hawk Josh Thelen who wins the Defensive Back Award. Special teams does not go unnoticed
and neither did the play of the Bel-Air Norsemen’s Punter/Kicker Tommy Clarkin who takes home the Special Teams Award.

League Awards:

The coaching and betterment of the West Ottawa Knights throughout the 2022 season propelled them to improve week by week and was thanks in large part to the work of head coach Adam Gilmour and his staff. Coach Gilmour gets the well deserved recognition as Coach of The Year for 2022. One of the Knights best
weapons and top leaders in 2022 was Jeremiah Haye, his explosiveness and versatility with the ball made the Knights the dynamic and exciting offense they were and he gets the honor of winning the Offensive Player of the Year. Another key factor in the Knights success this past year was the clutch plays on the
defensive side of the ball. Their defense was helped led by Cyril Schneider who always seemed to be at the right place at the right time for huge stops in big games. He is the selection for Defensive Player of The Year. There were many players throughout the Midget division who took on the responsibility of being their teams
go to player. These teams often take on the identity of their leader on and off the field and the West Ottawa Knights’ resiliency and championship culture was spearheaded by the play of Oliver Jackson who made countless plays all season on defense for the Knights and showed up with highlight reel stops in the
Inter-Provincial Bowl enroute to the MVP of that game and a double championship winning season. He is the selection for Most Valuable Player of the 2022 NCAFA Midget season.

Congratulations to all players who made the 2022 Midget season a thrilling and successful one. And a big shoutout to all the recipients of the 2022 Awards!
